Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What does VOD Manager do?
VOD Manager saves your Twitch VODs and clips to your own cloud storage after each stream, then emails you when the files are ready.
Is it free?
Yes. VOD Manager is free to use right now. You bring your own storage account, so your storage provider may charge for the space you use.
Do I need to be technical to use this?
No. You do need to set up a storage account once, but the app walks you through connecting it. Step-by-step guides for popular providers are coming next.
What do I need before I sign up?
You need a Twitch account and a storage account at one of the supported providers. If you are not sure which provider to choose, start with the storage guide. Read the storage guide.
Twitch and your streams
How does it know when my stream ends?
Twitch tells VOD Manager when your stream is over. We wait until Twitch finishes preparing the video, then save it for you.
What about clips?
You can save clips too. When clip saving is turned on, new clips are found and saved alongside your streams.
What if Twitch deletes my VOD before you save it?
Twitch usually keeps VODs for 14 days, or 60 days for Partners, Turbo, and Prime members. We try to save each VOD as soon as Twitch makes it ready, but we cannot recover a VOD after Twitch removes it. See the full VOD timing guide.
Can I save sub-only VODs?
Yes. When you connect your Twitch account, you give VOD Manager permission to save VODs that only your subscribers can watch on Twitch.
What if I have multiple Twitch channels?
You can link as many Twitch channels as you need. Each one can save to the storage settings you choose.
Storage
Which storage provider should I choose?
The best choice depends on your budget, how much you stream, and whether you already use a provider. The storage guide compares the common choices in plain English. Read the choosing your storage guide.
How much storage do I need?
We recommend 50-100 GB to start. One stream is typically 4-8 GB, and longer or higher-quality streams can use more. See the sizing guide.
What's coming for storage?
We plan to add Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. Those options should make setup easier if you do not want to create a separate cloud storage account.
Files and privacy
Where do my VODs actually live?
Your saved copies live in your storage account. VOD Manager keeps the records needed to show and manage them in the app.
Can I download a VOD I saved?
Yes. You can generate a download link from any saved VOD.
What happens if I delete my account?
We delete our records for your account. Files in your storage stay there unless you choose the option to remove them too.
